We are committed to helping others. This does not just mean participating in homeless meal services. We have opened the door to this concept to include food education in addition to a variety of service projects. Good Health Through Good Food The Raw Food Workshop fundraiser in the fall 2007 marked the beginning of what has become a series of conscious cooking seminars/classes. Each class has a theme of its own but they all revolve around the central theme of promoting and maintaining good health through good food. |

Los Angeles Food Bank- Food Sorting The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is the largest in the county and provides provides food for thousands of hungry people every week. Nothing goes better together than a singles mixer at a food bank on Valentines’ Day. Giant crates lined the floor and cut-out hearts dotted the walls at the giant warehouse. Love was in the air. Music played. Apples and oranges found themselves together at last. This two for one event offered not only a hope for love but offered a greater way to share that love; by providing help to families who cannot make ends meet. Continued |

Angel Harvest- Tour Food Drive During Ammas visit to Los Angeles, we invite to the community to show how much we care by bringing a non-perishable food item to one of Ammas programs. Nonreturnable leftovers from the kitchen and snack shop are also packaged and donated. This year, through Ammas Grace and your compassion and hard work, Mothers Kitchen in partnership with Angel Harvest was able to donate an entire truck load of food items to smaller shelters in South Los Angeles that do not receive adequate funding. |

| Bake Sale to feed more people [Article coming soon] | They came together for a lunchtime meal. Their eyes tell stories of heartache and of hope. They are artists, writers, mothers, daughters and sisters. In today’s world, they could be any one of us. However, on that Sunday in July, they received nourishment on so many levels, blessed by the love of Amma through her devotees. Continued |

Breaking news from San Diego Satsang Mother's Kitchen!
The long awaited relaunching of SD AMMA Satsang's Mother's Kitchen Project!
Our program came to a screeching halt a few years back when the City of San Diego changed the laws regarding how you can gather and feed the homeless. Insane from our perspective, but that was the obstacle placed before us. We were determined to overcome it.
Since then we have kept searching for a venue and way for us to get the project going again, and finally found one--North County Interfaith in Escondido. For the last year, we have been providing food for them and other places via donations from AMMA's Children here in San Diego, but it just wasn't the same. Optimally, we would serve them people in need directly, but were ecstatic to prepare healthy vegetarian lunches for them.
As per North County Interfaith's request we made PB & J sandwiches, and added an organic apple, chips, a granola bar and a juice in each of the 150+ bags we put together. One couple in our satsang was kind enough to shop and pick up all the food and another 10 devotees gathered at Carol Devi and Aravind's home temple in Leucadia and had a nectarous time spending 3 hrs getting this all together while laughing and listening to AMMA's bhajans. Our 2 participating kids might have worked the hardest and they really had a blast too (Vismaya was worry that she was going to be bored. HA!) Setting an example for our kids and getting them involved so that they can then continue these needed activities in the next generation is so important!
We look forward to doing this at least once a month, on top of still gathering food for the homeless each week.
